The Summer of Expense

Team Avatar (kind of) reunites. What a moment!

This summer hurt like a motherfucker (did I really just reference that song? Yes, yes I did.). No, but it’s been rather busy.

I went to jury duty and they excused everyone without even calling anyone in. I got on Tinder, and then subsequently stopped going on (where was Hilary Duff?!). I got to go to an early screening of a movie that will be released later this year; I also can’t disclose any further information except that it was good and I will bring it up later this year so don’t forget. In my free time (ie when I’m on the toilet), I sing the Lava song from the Pixar short before Inside Out.

My sister came home, then my dad came for a little. I grilled on Independence Day (Alan and I are grillmasters now). And we were all Idiot Americans because I tried to catch sparklers in my hand (do it for the Vine). I had a dinner party with friends on a weekday (so adult). I got a promotion at work and am definitely taking on more responsibility there.

I went to San Diego Comic-Con 2015, which you all can read all about here. Spoiler alert: it was exhilarating.

I shaved my head, and wow, you can really see the tan lines. I’ve actually never had my scalp this shaved before, but it feels nice to finally not have to worry about my hair. Though interestingly enough, the no poo seemed to really have worked. No visible dandruff, no itchiness, and my hair was smooth and silky. It just took a couple months.

I also got a tattoo! I got my first one back in 2011 and I’ve been patiently waiting to get my next one. Part of it was a money issue and the other part was finding what idea I wanted. I think this one had been floating in my head for a little over a year now and I’ve been patiently waiting for my booked appointment for 2 months. So it’s currently unfinished (still have to do the coloring), so I will post a picture in all its glory in a few weeks (as well as a detailed play-by-play of my experience). I’m so excited though, it looks beautiful and I love it more every time I look at it.

For the rest of the month, I need to lay low and chill at home for a while, partly because money and partly because I need to keep my tattoo out of the sun while it’s healing. It’s time to be a hermit! Nothing major to report at the gym, still continuing semi-regularly with fitness and yoga and meditation. I think I’ll stop going for a while since my tattoo is healing and I don’t want to overwork the skin. I have noticed that I’ve been packing on the pounds and am having trouble getting rid of the fat around my belly. Though, arguably, I’ve tried to stop eating out so much, to stop eating AYCE so much, and to make conscious choices not to eat so much red meat (goodbye AYCEKBBQ). I’ve also been alcohol free officially since July, though I think I stopped drinking somewhere in mid-June. It messes with the gains, you know? We’ll see how long I can hold out.

You will have an exciting addition to your life by being the warm person you are.

Well, thank you, fortune cookie!
