The Spring Forward

I feel like a lot has happened since the last time I posted, but then again, perhaps not. This quarter went by pretty quickly, the second half even more than the first! For the last couple of weeks, I’ve felt like a zombie- all I did was go to class, come home and study (after getting back from Berkeley, it was either a presentation, a midterm, a paper, and finals…one right after the other). And I can now officially relax because I finished my paper and Spring Break is here!

I finally cut my hair and shaved the growth on my chin. I feel very clean. Spring clean…

A couple weeks before finals, I got myself an iTouch. It had been a build up of things, mainly stemming from observations that people tend to pull out their phones when there’s a silence during conversation or when they’re not doing anything. Normally, I find that really rude, but now I can do it too! Not that I would if I could actually talk to people in real life. But now, I think I can put this to great use. First, I can now listen to music on the go in a way that syncs with my iTunes. Everything is so neat and beautiful, if I do say so myself (on a tangent, I just finished going through and listening to all my songs once over). Second, I can also play games when I’m taking a break from homework or when I’m waiting alone or need something to do when my laptop battery dies (I’m so addicted to raising dragons! EVERYONE PLAY DRAGONVALE WITH ME! So addicting!). It’s all so convenient! I haven’t gotten many apps yet, as I mainly wanted it for music/games, but I’m sure I will figure out good uses for it. On top of that, I get to have my phone with its non-touchscreen keyboard and non-monthly service fees. It’s the best of both worlds!

It feels like so long ago, but I randomly wasn’t studying and decided to look on CraigsList to find a cheap one. And after hours over the span of days, I found a pretty good one. So then we went to meet up in Westminster, a halfway point McDonald’s, in the early morning. I brought Amadeo as bodyguard and inspector. So we met up a little late and he didn’t charge his iTouch for whatever reason so it wasn’t turning on. I had to go back to UCI for class, so I drove all the way back and then an hour later, I went back to the McD’s and made sure everything worked properly. And the rest is history!

So that’s been distracting me from studying. But before these hectic last few weeks, I was on top of things with reading and working out and watching new shows. I can’t wait to get back to this in the coming week! And Korra this weekend (I like to wait for the official release because the wait will be worth it). And hopefully, I can read the Hunger Games over Spring Break. I already got the soundtrack for the movie, and it’s just so good.

Four weekends ago, I went to my cousins’ place where one of them had a Despicable Me-themed party. Aww, so cute. I think he was turning 5. Anyway, I find that most of my younger cousins are actually hilarious now and I can talk to them normally. Too cool. Three weekends ago, we had a party for my sister because she got into grad school! So exciting and great. I will have to convince my parents to get another dog to replace her when she leaves. Two weekends ago, we celebrated Alan’s birthday at The Boiling Crab. They expanded it and it’s huge, but we waited 1.5 hours, so that was ridiculous, but really delicious. Last weekend, we celebrated my mom’s birthday, by also getting her Boiling Crab to go. I can never get sick of it! We also got her the most delicious cake ever at Pavilion’s- it was this light, fluffy cake, with a layer of custard in the center, topped with frozen strawberries. I don’t even know, it’s just so delicious and I want that for every birthday from now on. Move over, ice cream cake! So many festivities over the weekends, that I just lose track of time and the weekends end and I’m already back to school and I just try to focus as much as I can on weekdays. Sheesh, it’s been hectic. I also feel like I haven’t gone out all too much, or I am relunctant to, because gas is way too expensive and it sucks to have to fill up so much.

It has been a…unique quarter. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst, but winter quarters do tend to make me sad. I took my hardest class ever at UCI (perhaps until next quarter), but I got to see friends in all my classes, and all of the classes were the most interesting ones I’ve taken at UCI. So it was pretty bittersweet. It makes me love my major because I get to take public health classes AND science classes. Don’t get me wrong, though- I’m so excited to graduate!

Oh, on another note, I also had the worst poop ever in my life sometime in the past few weeks, I don’t remember when. I could go into a huge rant talking about it, but I don’t want to gross y’all out too much (unless you want to know, message me privately, lulz!). But seriously, it was like a small-scale pregnancy up in that bathroom. Curse you, KBBQ (but I love you so much)!

Okay, enough of the chit-chat, I’m going to enjoy my life for the next week! The weather has been beautiful this week, and I hope it continues because Spring will be a much better quarter. Can’t wait!
